Marc by Marc Jacobs: Tucked Under Pony

The ponytail-meets-bun look at Marc Jacobs created serious buzz in the beauty press. To achieve it, sweep hair back high and off the face (no part necessary). Flip the ponytail forward and pin with a thin clip about two inches from the base. Then flip the ponytail back down toward the nape of the neck and secure with a second clip to create the playful bump.

Miu Miu Spring 2012

Miuccia Prada clearly felt very serious (and a little but autumnal) for Miu Miu. She kept in step with the youthful vibe, but this is one no-nonsense young lady decked out in gray and and black flared skirts and either bra tops or covered-up blouses with pouffed sleeves.

Louis Vuitton Spring 2012

There's been a real youth movement this spring. Not the establishment-shaking kind, but one that skews towards young lady dressing. For what could be his last collection for Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs showed off his sweet tooth with prim lacy looks in candy colors set against an all-white carousel.

Alexander McQueen Spring 2012

Coming off the success of Kate Middleton's wedding dress, which hit mass levels of success, Sarah Burton's spring Alexander McQueen collection proved that she's lost none of that provocative edge that earned her predecessor the monicker of fashion's enfant terrible. Here, drama met sartorial precision. Day suits in unassumingly ladylike colors like cream and pink took on an ultra sexy angle with tightly cinched waists and lace caps that covered half the face.

Valentino Spring 2012

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli's Valentino runway mixed the house's signature femininity with a new, minimal direction. It started with lace — for day, for evening, done in leather, long, short, ultra girly and a little tomboy. Any which way you like it and always cut beautifully.
